Bridal Skincare: How to Prep for Glowing Wedding Day Skin
Flawless makeup starts with flawless skin. Here's my recommended skincare timeline for brides.
6 Months Before: Establish Your Routine
Now is the time to see a dermatologist or esthetician. Address any concerns:
- Acne or breakouts
- Hyperpigmentation
- Fine lines
- Uneven texture
Key products to incorporate:
- Gentle cleanser
- Vitamin C serum (morning)
- Retinol (evening, 2-3x/week)
- SPF 30+ daily (non-negotiable!)
- Hydrating moisturizer
3 Months Before: Refine
Your routine should be established. Now focus on:
- Regular facials (monthly)
- Consistent exfoliation
- Treating any remaining concerns
Stop introducing new products after this point. Your wedding day is not the time for a reaction!
1 Month Before: Maintain
- Final facial 2 weeks before (not closer!)
- Continue your routine exactly
- Stay hydrated (half your body weight in oz of water)
- Get good sleep
The Week Of
- No new products
- No extractions or harsh treatments
- Extra hydration
- Sheet masks are your friend
- Manage stress (it shows on your skin!)
Wedding Day Morning
Before I arrive:
- Cleanse gently
- Apply light moisturizer
- Skip heavy serums (they can break down makeup)
- No sunscreen on face (I'll use makeup with SPF)
I always start with a mini-facial and skin prep to create the perfect canvas.
Products I Recommend
For Bay Area brides dealing with fog/humidity:
- Cleansers: CeraVe, La Roche-Posay
- Serums: SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, The Ordinary Niacinamide
- Moisturizers: Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream, First Aid Beauty
- SPF: Supergoop Unseen, Elta MD
